Nick Copland

Nick Copland is a verbal identity consultant and business writer.

He has over 15 years experience working with businesses, helping them express themselves with accuracy and authenticity.

Nick spent several years as a freelance creative copywriter before joining Elmwood Design in Leeds in 2006 as a Writer. Whilst with this award-winning agency, Nick worked alongside senior creatives on projects for the likes of ASDA, Boots, Coles (Australia), Scottish Water, Durex and the BBC. During this time Nick was part of a collaborative project with writers’ group 26 and The Scotch Malt Whiskey Association resulting in the book Some Joy Ride.

Nick now concentrates on brand development and corporate identity. In 2008 he won a Gold Roses Award for his corporate identity work for Seven HR in Leeds.

Nick’s Verbal-ID Programme helps businesses and other organisations approach communication with clarity and direction – usually prior to any creative design work. He works with them to distil the key words, phrases and statements that guide and focus their efforts and identity as they take the next big step. Through group sessions, individual interviews, questionnaires and structured feedback, Nick helps create the consensus and confidence behind successful new campaigns, markets, products and services.
